Jesus then said, “I came into the world to bring everything into the clear light of day, making all the distinctions clear, so that those who have never seen will see, and those who have made a great pretense of seeing will be exposed as blind.” Some Pharisees overheard him and said, “Does that mean you’re calling us blind?” Jesus said, “If you were really blind, you would be blameless, but since you claim to see everything so well, you’re accountable for every fault and failure.” John 9:39-41
I love that Jesus has come into the world to expose the self-righteousness of religion driven by mere human energy and ego. This passage humbles me and truly causes me to tremble. His goal for us, of course, is to end up "seeing". However, once we do "see" something of heavenly grace and truth, we are immediate danger of deceivemoting to others that we see more than we actually do! By God's grace, I have been made to "see" things from the Holy Spirit and within Scripture many times, but I pray that I will always be able to convey that there is still so much more for me to "see". I "know" God, but I also know that there is obviously so much more I have yet to discover about Him.
